A Friend

The story of Job is amazing one.  Some people read it and get lost in all the conversation, but it is worth your time and attention.  Job had a lot and lost it quick.  He had some friends that came to him and notice what they did.
Job 2.13- And they sat with him on the ground seven days and seven nights, and no one spoke a word to him, for they saw that his suffering was very great. (www.lifejournal.cc)
The first thing they did was come to his side and just sit there.  They eventually started talking and that conversation is the majority of this book.  However, notice in the days ahead, when they started talking is when the trouble began.
Preachers and friends have a tendency to want to talk too much in a time of crisis, when the greatest comfort comes from the Holy Spirit anyway.  Don't be prone to talk, be prone to come alongside.  The presence of a friend is more comforting that coined phrases or attempts to lighten heavy moments.

Be a friend today and, if it is necessary, speak.
