The Chasm

Being in the pastorate for almost twenty years, I have seen a lot of death.   With a stint as a chaplain for a sheriff's office, I saw some tragic death.   You never quite forget seeing someone die.  It is stark, real, and, yes, final.   Let me show you something that is even more stark.  It is when Jesus talks about the separation that comes in the death of those without Christ.  The separation is final.   Notice how He talks about it-  Luke 16.25-26-  But Abraham said, ‘Child, remember that you in your lifetime received your good things, and Lazarus in like manner bad things; but now he is comforted here, and you are in anguish. 26 And besides all this, between us and you a great chasm has been fixed, in order that those who would pass from here to you may not be able, and none may cross from there to us.’

A great chasm....reminds me of my family's visit to the Grand Canyon last year.  It was a deep, very wide chasm and impossible to cross.
He also speaks of anguish....what a horrible experience it is to be without Christ for all of eternity.

If you do not know Christ, don't wait another day.  Come to Christ...for the sake of eternity and for the sake of everyday until eternity.

Come on...come to Jesus.
