Pleasure Over Pride

Today, as we continue to Prepare 90 Days for Easter (P90E), we read Matthew 14 and 2 Corinthians 9.6-15 and are challenged to be cheerful, even hilarious, givers.

Pride can cause a mess. It did for Herod. In an effort to please his guests, live up to his big, prideful promises, and satisfy others, he had John the Baptist killed.  He did not even want him to die!
Notice Matthew 14.9- And the king was sorry, but because of his oaths and his guests he commanded it to be given.

He was amazed by John, but convicted by his words. Pride got him in a mess.

Pride will get us in a mess as well.  Let's worry about only pleasing one today- the Lord.  You will be surprised by the contentment that it brings.
