Like Nobody Else

Today we read 2 Kings 11-12, 2 Chronicles 24, and 1 Timothy 6.

Watch what you aim for!  You might just get it.   Paul warned Timothy to watch out for the constant desire to have what everyone else has, to do what everyone else does, and to live like everyone else.    When Dave Ramsey,  the money management guru, encourages someone to live with thrift so they can have later, he says- Live like nobody else, so you can live like nobody else!  Of course, he speaks of not getting into the traps of credit card debt, big mortgages, and lacking a consistently feed savings.  By avoiding such common traps, you can 'build wealth.'
When the apostle Paul speaks to Timothy in 1 Timothy 6 about living like nobody else, however, it speaks of pursuing God with all that he had.  He put it this way in 1 Timothy 6.11-  But as for you, O man of God, flee these things. Pursue righteousness, godliness, faith, love, steadfastness, gentleness.

If we are not careful, we will set our standards by watching other people.  We will try to live like them: both financially and spiritually.  Both are traps.  Pursue God and the things of God and watch Him take care of the rest.
Today, live like nobody else, so you can live like nobody else--solely for Jesus!  Have a great day!
