To Make Him Smile

Today we read Amos 7-9, Psalm 104, and Titus 2.

Paul had a way of speaking right where we live!  Never is that more obvious than when he starts singling out husbands or wives or children or bosses or workers, etc. He does some of that in Titus 2 and while I was reading that this morning, the Spirit of God threw me a curve ball in the ol' soul.
It came as I was reading Titus 2.9-10 - Bondservants are to be submissive to their own masters in everything; they are to be well-pleasing, not argumentative, 10 not pilfering, but showing all good faith, so that in everything they may adorn the doctrine of God our Savior.

Another word for bondservant is slave, so he is speaking to slaves.  Does that relate to us?  The shot to the gut to me this morning was that, yes, it does speak to us.  As former slaves to sin, we are now slaves to Christ.  What does that mean for us?  Well, the passage tells us that we are to obedient and submissive in everything to our Master.  We ought to please Him, or, as I often say, live to make Him smile.  Don't argue about it.  Don't steal away the opportunities that He gives us.  Instead, live in good faith.

If you have committed your life to Christ, you are His slave, a servant bought with the bond of Christ's sacrificial love.  Let's please Him with our submission to His Will and His Way...today!

It is going to be a great day of worship!  Don't you miss a bit!
