Expectant Prayer

Today we read Job 6-8 and Acts 12.

How expectant is your prayer?  When you pray, do you expect God to answer?

Acts 12.12-16 -When he realized this, he went to the house of Mary, the mother of John whose other name was Mark, where many were gathered together and were praying. 13 And when he knocked at the door of the gateway, a servant girl named Rhoda came to answer. 14 Recognizing Peter's voice, in her joy she did not open the gate but ran in and reported that Peter was standing at the gate. 15 They said to her, “You are out of your mind.” But she kept insisting that it was so, and they kept saying, “It is his angel!” 16 But Peter continued knocking, and when they opened, they saw him and were amazed.

Although they prayed for him, they thought Rhoda was crazy when she said Peter was free and knocking at the door.

When you pray, pay attention, God's answer could be knocking at your door.

Not a typical Sunday for me...I am in Kansas City for a Midwestern Seminary board meeting.  I noticed on the plane yesterday that Tom Elliff, the president of the International Missions Board of the Southern Baptist Convention was abroad as well.   I knew he would probably be speaking at a missions conference that is going on at Lenexa Baptist Church.  I checked and he is.  Today I will attend Lenexa, a big supporter of the seminary, and hear Dr. Elliff.  I am thankful that back in Houston, my folks get to hear Ken Rhodes speak about Mississippi mobilizing missions.  I am excited about their opportunity. Wherever you worship today, have a great day of worship.
