Can You Hear Me Now?

If  you have spoken on a cell phone for many days at all, you know the frustation of being cut off mid-conversation.  One of the main cell providers has a commercial and they brag about how strong their signal is with the little guy in the black outfit saying, "Can you hear me now?"  He is not the first to say something like that.  Jesus did as well...or at least similiar.  In Luke 9:44, Jesus says- “Let these words sink into your ears: The Son of Man is about to be delivered into the hands of men.”   I am just struck by those words: let these words sink into your ears.  Jesus was saying, "Don't miss this!  This is something to hear! Listen this time!"  If you read the Gospels, you quickly find that the disciples often misunderstood what He was saying to them.  They either did not get it or they just did not listen.  Now the passage actually says in this cause that it was "concealed" from them.   There are many times, however, when they just did not get it.  The disciples were used in a powerful way by God but they were not perfect and missed a lot in their daily walk with the Lord.
I think most of us are probably worse than they were.   I wonder how many times we come across a passage of Scripture or the Spirit whispers into our souls and has to emphasize it with a "let these words sink into your ears."  Thickheaded Christianity is dead-end Christianity.  It cuts us off from God's very best.  It would do us well to be very sensitive to the voice of God, the Word of Scripture, the unction of the Spirit at work in our lives.  I would hate the think that the Lord has to re-emphasize His Words to me with "let this sink in".  I would hate to think He has to do it for any of us.
Commit yourself to be attentive to the Word of God today.  Hear It Now!
