Just As He Had Done

Today we read Daniel 5-6, Psalm 130, and Luke 3.

In Daniel 6 a law was made that you could not worship anything besides the king.

Notice how Daniel responded in Daniel 6.10- When Daniel knew that the document had been signed, he went to his house where he had windows in his upper chamber open toward Jerusalem. He got down on his knees three times a day and prayed and gave thanks before his God, as he had done previously.

I like the last phrase in this verse.  He did not change his personal devotion for the Lord.   It is not that he wanted everyone to see him or that he did what he did for the sake of others.  He had a personal devotion to the Lord that was an appointment in his life.  He let nothing come in the way of it. I like a cup of coffee on the back porch or 'in the den' for my time with the Lord.  Daniel liked his balcony.   What he did, however, was not for show.  It was for a love for the Lord.  Did others pick up on it?  Yes, they will, if your  life reflects it.  They may even catch a glimpse of you reading your copy of God's Word or lifting a prayer to the Lord...just don't do as a show for others to see.   Love The Lord with your heart, not for a show....and do it today!
