Take It In

Today we read Ezekiel 25-28 and Revelation 10.

We read some tough passages today.  However, a few verses stand out and give us easy application.  The key verse in my reading today is Revelation 10.10- And I took the little scroll from the hand of the angel and ate it. It was sweet as honey in my mouth, but when I had eaten it my stomach was made bitter.

This little scroll is a Word from God for John to take in and consume. He has shared from the larger seven sealed scroll but this is a smaller portion.  There is an emphasis on him taking it in.  It is sweet, just like the promises of Scripture.  It is bitter, just like the judgment of God.  You cannot...should not...preach one without the other.

Adrian Rogers, the classic, extraordinaire preacher, put it this way:
If you preach the love of God without the wrath of God, you are dishonest.
If you preach the wrath of God without the love of God, you are dishonest.
Remember, if you take part of the truth and make part of the truth all of the truth, that part of the truth becomes an untruth.  We are to preach all the Word of God, the bitter and the sweet.
May God keep us from loveless truth or truthless love.

How do you put it better?  The only thing that I would add would be that we not only preach it, we live it out and heed it.  Digest His Word today and live off His Truth.
