Carefully Crafted

Today, as we continue to Prepare 90 Days for  Easter (P90E), we read Matthew 12 and Numbers 13.24-14.45 and reflect on how God has gifted us and how our insecurity limits us from reaching the potential that God has placed upon us.

I am struck and challenged this morning by a passage concerning careless words.  Read
Matthew 12.36-37-I tell you, on the day of judgment people will give account for every careless word they speak, for by your words you will be justified, and by your words you will be condemned."

Now, before the big mouths panic, there are a lot of passages concerning judgment and a lot of them talk about God's grace.  As children of God, the professed Christians who have been forgiven and whose sins have been removed, have been forgiven and their sin has been removed. We have a strong and sufficient advocate on the day of judgment.  Having said that, now reread the verses above.

Careless words are a big deal to God and, if they are a big deal to God, they better be a big deal to us.  Don't take the words you spit out in slang, or in anger, or in degradation lightly. God does not take it lightly.  We should not.  I am sure there are others that do not take it lightly.

Let's not be so crass or careless, that we hurt our witness or weaken His Cause.

'Oh, be careful little mouth what you say...' TODAY!
