Stretching Our Skins

Today as we are continuing to Prepare 90 Days for Easter (P90E), we read Matthew 9 and Genesis 22 and ponder on times we followed God through a difficult decision that caused some personal sacrifice.

I am drawn, however, to Matthew 9.17-
Neither is new wine put into old wineskins. If it is, the skins burst and the wine is spilled and the skins are destroyed. But new wine is put into fresh wineskins, and so both are preserved.

Wine was stored in sewn animal skins that allowed the wine to ferment and expand with the  natural elasticity of a fresh skin.  However, if you got an old wineskin that no longer expanded and new juice that had not yet expanded, you got juice in your lap.  The old wineskin was 'too set in its ways to handle the new. '
You have never been like an old wineskin have you? Has God wanted to do a new thing in your life, and you balked it because you 'had never done it that way before.'

How about at church? How do handle change? Are you stuck in your particular spot, your particular style, and your particular way?  Open your eyes and see the fields that are white unto harvest!  God is doing a new thing. Oh, how ready the church must be to expand and grow in their ministries, styles, and ways! We are never to compromise His Word or Way, but we ought to always be ready and open to His Will and His Direcrion.

People need The Lord.  Come out of your ways and share and praise and grow in a new way...today!
