A Burning Inside

Today we read Jeremiah 18-20, Psalm 93, and John 17.

It was not that the prophet Jeremiah always felt comfortable with what he was to share.  It was not that he always understood what he was saying in its entirety.  He shared it because God gave him a charge to be His mouthpiece.  He shared it because he knew that it was what God wanted him to say. He shared because he had a compelling to share that he could not hold in.  In a prayer to God, Jeremiah explained it like this-   If I say, “I will not mention him, or speak any more in his name,”
there is in my heart as it were a burning fire shut up in my bones, and I am weary with holding it in.

In other words he had a bad case of the can't-help-its.  God had spoken a word to him and he had to let others know. He was changed by the message of God.

Have you been changed by the message of God?  If you have been, God has commissioned you as well to share what you know with who you know any chance that you know that you can.  It is the same calling and clarity as Jeremiah? No.  In some ways it is much better though.  You see, Jeremiah's message only pointed to the future hope of Christ.  Now that Christ has come, the message is clear.  Christ has made it clear...in the Word....and in our hearts.

May the hope of the good news of Christ so burn within your bones today that you cannot help but share it!
