Nippin' It

If you will recognize the wide road that each of us is so tempted to walk down, and see it destination, it should help you not to be so flippant about starting something that will end so much bigger than you thought.  Notice the deadly process:
James 1.14-15- But each person is tempted when he is lured and enticed by his own desire. 15 Then desire when it has conceived gives birth to sin, and sin when it is fully grown brings forth death.
(www.lifejournal.cc)  Keep in mind that this is not an overstatement.  The death that it speaks of can be spiritual death, relational death, or the death of an opportunity.  The devil doesn't want to give you a headache today, he wants to steal from you, destroy you, and kill your zeal.  However, he is not in charge.  He is not a cosmic equal with God battling it out.  He is a fallen created one raising a ruckus. God is in control.  He lives within the Christian.  You have power within you to turn away from temptation.  The Christian is no longer enslaved to sin, so don't play around with it.  As the great theologian Barney Fife said, "Nip it in the bud", or get it from the get-go.  That is the best way to not be toyed with spiritually.  The great Cathedrals song put it this way:
Sin will take you farther than you wanna go
Slowly but wholly taking control
Sin will leave you longer than you wanna stay
Sin will cost you far more than you wanna pay

Don't fall into that mess today.  Walk in the freedom found in the Lord and have a great day.
