The Spoken Way

Today we read 2 Kings 17, 2 Chronicles 28, Psalm 46, and James 3.

When it comes to what you say today, you cannot have it both ways.  You need to make a choice.
James always gets right to the heart of the matter.  Where the rubber meets the road, that is where James is speaking.  Listen to Him this morning:

James 3.9-12  -We praise our Lord and Father with it, and we curse men who are made in God’s likeness with it. 10 Praising and cursing come out of the same mouth. My brothers, these things should not be this way.11 Does a spring pour out sweet and bitter water from the same opening? 12 Can a fig tree produce olives, my brothers, or a grapevine produce figs? Neither can a saltwater spring yield fresh water.

In a youth camp at the beach, we have had a few minutes each afternoon to play in the gulf.  Some kids who have never spent a lot of time in salt water were amazed at the difference of salt water compared to fresh water.  It is as different as the content that comes out of some mouths.  So what is going to come out of yours today?

You cannot have it both ways.  Make a choice today...make the right one.  Show gratitude toward others, lavish encouragement upon their lives, and be quick to give your God praise and thanks, both in private and with others.

By the way, you won't be perfect today.  However, we can strive to be better today...all day.
Have a great day!
