Dead To Me!

Today we read 1 Kings 10 & 11, 2 Chronicles 9, and Romans 6.

I have a show on television that I thoroughly enjoy watching, Shark Tank.  Shark Tank is a reality show with a panel of five business moguls that are millionaires and billionaires looking to invest their  money in an entrepreneural,  good idea.  Mark Cuban, the controversial Dallas Mavericks owner is usually there, along with the creator of the clothing line, FUBU, a software guy, a real estate developer, and Kevin O'Leary.  Kevin was unemployed when he founded Reader Rabbit software in his basement and sold it for billions.  He calls himself, Mr. Wonderful, but he is one of the rudest, most ruthless, but truthful critics, you will ever hear.  Kevin is only concerned with one thing- making money.  After someone has invested their life savings in gaining a patent on a good idea and now begs for an investor to allow production to begin or continue, Kevin will say, "Do your money a favor, let it go.  You have held it in prison for too long."  Admittedly, money means way to much to Kevin, but he usually gives some good advice.  He normally then bows his money out, so they can invest with someone else on the panel.  When it really gets bad, Kevin will say, "You are dead to me!" That is a rough way of saying that he will not invest his money in an idea.  He will then ridicule other investors considering getting in.

As I read Romans 6.10-11 today, I thought of Kevin's favorite phrase-  For the death he (Christ) died he died to sin, once for all, but the life he lives he lives to God. 11 So you also must consider yourselves dead to sin and alive to God in Christ Jesus.

If we will speak to sinful habits of the heart, the mind, the tongue, and the body today and everyday and say, "Sin, you are dead to me!" Or, more importantly, call upon the Lord and ask Him to help us be stronger against our sinful habits, we will be much better off.

Don't fall for the devil's lies today.  Be dead to sin and alive in Christ!  Have a great day!
