The Preceding Prayer

Today we read 2 Chronicles 6 & 7, Psalm 135, and Romans 4.

2 Chronicles 7.14 is one of the most popularly used verses in all of the Bible.  When Christians become distressed about the state of their land, they often speak of this prayer.  It is a powerful verse where God promises that if we will turn to Him, He will intervene.  Have you ever noticed the preceding prayer in 2 Chronicles 6 where Solomon asked the Lord to make such a promise to His People?  It was the prayers of Solomon turning to the Lord that gave him the clear message from God about the power of prayer.  2 Chronicles 7.12- Then the Lord appeared to Solomon in the night and said to him: “I have heard your prayer and have chosen this place for myself as a house of sacrifice.
Solomon's clear message came as a response to his earlier prayer.  That is even more proof that God will do what He says He will do in 2 Chronicles 7.14.

It just excites me today to know that Solomon received such a clear, powerful message from God after he called on God to pray.  It was in prayer that Solomon learned how to pray.

Let's take it all to Him today and learn as He speaks back into our hearts.
